Flash Experts Forum

So there are hundreds of Flash forums already on the net and why one more? So the focus of this forum is not going to be generic flash discussion but will focus on time saving techniques for Flash users. The idea of having a central repository of Flash hacks and tips & tricks was there in the back of my mind for a long time now and so I decided to bring the forum in my site back, with a new look and a fresh idea. The primary focus of this forum will be to exchange ideas, tips & tricks and hacks in Flash, this forum will also focus on some common issues in Flash and possible workarounds.

Last time I had to close out the forum as the spamming was unmanageable and I would spend hours just cleaning the spam and hence this time around only registered users will be able to post or reply to the forum. I am also looking at a way to hack the inbuilt ranking system of phpBB to include a point based system to rank users based on their activity or rather participation level. I have added a few common categories to the forum please feel free to suggest some more relevant categories.

What are you waiting for? Just go ahead and register yourself, it just takes a few seconds.

Flash 8 - beginBitmapFill problem with preloaded/externally loaded JPEGS

I have an AS application that loads about 100 external JPEGS fill thumbnails. I load these into empty movie clips so that I can use them for two purposes: display them and then tile them into a prescribed area after the user has selected which one they want to use.

The problem occurs when I want to convert these small movie clips to bitmaps so that I can tile them. There are plenty of Macromedia examples on how to use beginBitmapFill() using library symbols but these images don't exist in a library.
So I tried using draw() but I only get a blank image.
Can anyone help me reliably convert a movieclip, that is created programatically, into a bitmap that I can then use in the beginBitmapFill() method.

Thanks.

Hello there,

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read my email.

I have created the website in flash MX, set the document size to 1000/800, it's too big for browers (apart from mine - oops). I know I can go into the document and modify it to 800/600, but then I have to change all the image sizes etc seperately and it will take hours.Well anyway, instead of having to resize every single page, image, movie etc
I was wondering if there was a way of doing it when I export the file (.swf)

I thought I'd cracked it one of the options when exporting was to 'fit in
browser', and tried a couple of other well it hasn't worked. Any
ideas/suggestions?

Thank you

@ngela

Hi,

A colleague of mine and myself have registered for your forums but have not received confirmation eMails, so our accounts aren't active.

Is there any way of getting accounts for the forums? I signed up as mbd.

Thanks.

Hi,
Perhaps you're just busy but you did announce the forum was available yet we are not able to log in because we haven't received a confirmation eMail in order to activate our accounts. I see there are quite a number of people in the member list but not a lot of activity. Perhaps there is a technical issue at the moment? Please let us know. It's a good idea and I'd like to support it.

Thanks.

I stumbled upon this forum in a google search and it looks like a cool place to hang out.
:)
