Adobe RIAthon’08 - XLabz wins 1st Prize & Audience Choice Award

I am glad to let you all know that my new found company XLabz won the 1st Prize & “Audience Choice Award” in the Adobe RIAthon event, for the best RIA application build using the Flash Player Platform. Adobe RIAthon is a Nation wide event held by Adobe in India.
Our application FlexStats – a real-time Web Monitoring Solution build on Flex and AIR won both the awards for us. We also had another application named CloudBuzz - a micro-blogging and news data mining software build on Flex and AIR, nominated for the finals. We thoroughly enjoyed the event – got to meet a lot of interesting people. There were quite a few fabulous applications like the Doctor Search app with Ribbit API, a custom skinned blog AIR app (AIR Blogger) and the AIR game which leveraged the iPhone Accelerometer. Thanks to all those who voted for us for the Audience Choice Award.
At one point when the audience were asked to voice out the name of the application which they thought won the event, we were able to hear only two names FlexJobs and CloudBuzz. Thanks a lot guys, you guys rock !
Just to add to the coolness we also one ourselves two iPhone 3G’s (for winning the title), two iPod Shuffles (for the Audience Choice Award) and a few Adobe branded goodies like T-Shirts and Laptop bags.
Man, I dreamt owning an iPhone for so long. Not that I couldn’t afford but in India it costs more than double of what it costs in US. At that price I couldn’t justify it to myself.
Last but not the least, we thank Adobe for giving us such a wonderful opportunity to showcase our capabilities and the participants for voting us into the Audience Choice Award.
Oh yes and a big thanks to my good friend and our company’s RIA geek, Elango for all those sleepless nights, working through storms, knee deep water, power cuts and GPRS connections to get this to this state.
